GRATEFUL GARDEN POCKET TEE // shortsleeve // unisex sizes small-xxlarge // 100% cotton
colour: blue jay + ivory
The Grateful Garden is composed of Ramble on Rose, Sugar Magnolia, Scarlet Begonias, China Cat Sunflower and inspired by the whimsical thought provoking nature of the Grateful Dead.
Ramble on Rose is a comparing collage tune referencing literature, American music, history, and of course sweet Rose. But how can you begin to even compare them all? Part of the beauty of the Grateful Dead is the open ended. True understanding and interpretation is different for every listener in all stages of life and living. Beautifully, each person relates to the comparisons and clevers differently. Perspective genuinely is everything. The rose is a emblem used repeatedly in the Grateful Dead’s discography. Throughout history, the rose has been seen as a sign of mystery, perfection of nature, and love.
Sugar Magnolia is a ballad that hints to be written about the almost too-good-to-be-true perfect woman and her beautiful ability to make all well. This perfect woman is also arguably intertwined with the perfectness of Mother Nature. The song references elements of nature throughout its entirety, possibly suggesting that mother nature is the Sugar Magnolia, and addressing the nurturing love and care that the Earth offers, “she’s got everything delightful, she’s got everything I need.”
Scarlet Begonias is an anthem woven with meaningful and memorable lyrics by the Grateful Dead. Full of life lessons and reality, Scarlet Begonias contains emotions of desire, purity, recollection, regret, self-realization, and moving on. Humanity. Its composure is ambiguous and of course open to translation while keeping a bubbly and confident tune. No matter what sentiment that the song sparks, it tails beautifully with us all playing together in the Heart of Gold Band. “Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.”
The lyrics of China Cat Sunflower create a constellation of chaos and take the listener on a kaleidoscope journey of imagination. Personally, I believe that Robert Hunter explained it best, “Nobody ever asked me the meaning of this song. People seem to know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s good that a few things in this world are clear to all of us.”
Look for awhile at the China Cat Sunflower
proud-walking jingle in the midnight sun
Copper-dome Bodhi drip a silver kimono
like a crazy-quilt stargown
through a dream night wind
Krazy Kat peeking through a lace bandana
like a one-eyed Cheshire
like a diamond-eye Jack
A leaf of all colors plays
a golden string fiddle
to a double-e waterfall over my back
Comic book colors on a violin river
crying Leonardo words
from out a silk trombone
I rang a silent bell
beneath a shower of pearls
in the eagle wing palace
of the Queen Chinee
I HAVE LEARNED THAT GRATEFUL IS A DEEP HEARTFELT EMOTION. I CANNOT THANK YOU ALL ENOUGH FOR SUPPORTING MY ARTWORK AND VISION.
I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL!
